No, they either counted online/pre-order(before the release date) or the amount shipped
The album was avaible for pre-order like a month before its release. Its very possible they've sold around 1.5 if you count from the time it was available to pre-order.
And media traffic does not count pre-order. So they didn't necessarily lie.
