You answered yourself. It's classified as an icefield in the Arctic Ocean. It is not made up of land (rock and soil) so it is not a continent.

If you combine NA and SA, as some do, they become the sub-continents of America.
If you combine Europe and Asia, which isn't really a strech, they become the sub-continents of Eurasia.

Doing either or both will leave you with 6 and 5 continents respectively.
No matter how you choose to count them, There will still be 7 individual continents when it all boils down to it.

The knowledge of some here is just....

India is commonly called "The subcontinent". It is its own geological plate, which is crashing into the Eurasian plate, thus creating the Himalaya Mountains.

Don't start throwing around supposedly authoritative statements while making subjective ones.
