Like someone else mentioned, her albums sells and tour receipts are not impressive. Her glory days are long gone. As a performer, she should be listed in the top 5 or 10 highest grossing female tours etc. Yet she's beneath Bey, Gaga, Taylor, Pink etc. The bottom line is, she is in her mid to late 40s. At that stage you should be considered a legend ala Mariah, Madonna etc. She is from their generation, but is receiving an award they just handed a 25yr old, albeit at another award show.

To answer the question is Rihanna anyway, she has been the biggest and most consistent superstar of the last few years, I'm almost sure that by 35 she's gonna be a legend if she keeps up this momentum.

It doesn't discredit Jlo's accomplishments, but its not a good look either. Do you think Mariah would accept an ICON award at 45? I guarantee you she would have them implement a legend award for ha.
