It depends I prefer to be called black when a black person refers to me. But African American if a white person was referring to me. For some reason it seem weird to have a white person call me black unless they are a friend. IMM it like they calling me colored
I always wonder if black people shy away from "African-American" because they don't want to be associated with Africa's roots and it's culture. Almost as if they're ashamed of it.
