The Upsidedown - Wake Up Drive Thru
Source: Reverb Records
- Someone recommended Upsidedown if one liked Dandy Warhols, which immediately had me wanting to check them out. There are a few songs available on the label's site that you can hear/download for free and if you like them, you can buy the album. I think this song sounds the most like Dandy Warhols.
Tigarah - Girl Fight
Source: Arjan Writes blog / Tigarah (her official site)
- "What do you get when you combine the fierce delivery of M.I.A. with the production talent of Diplo and the commercialized street cred of Gwen Stefani's Harajuku Girls? The answer is Tigarah, a female MC from Tokyo who raps in Japanese and English. Produced by studio innovator Mr. D, Tigarah takes her cues from a range of different styles including baile funk, UK grime, Baltimore club and hip-hop." -- Arjan
That is the reason why I ended up checking her out... now I know how to say "this fight never stops" in Japanese, haha.
Six songs that I feel like mentioning (in addition to the previous songs):
There is something about these songs... darn them. The Cinematics - Break
Album: A Strange Education | Year: 2006
- This is such a catchy song. The video only made me find the song even more catchy. Also, background music has me intrigued...
Fountains Of Wayne - Yolanda Hayes
Album: Traffic And Weather | Year: 2007
- The new single for Fountains of Wayne! Another reason to check out the album April 3rd!
The Go-Go's - Head Over Heels
Album: Talk Show | Year: 1984
- Being played in both Head Over Heels and 13 Going On 30, I knew it had to make the list.
Hugh Grant & Drew Barrymore - Way Back Into Love (Demo Version)
Album: Music & Lyrics | Year: 2007
- Not only is this a cute song but I also love the beginning where Drew is so nervous to sing. In addition to that, the lyrics are easy to relate to.
Sugar Ray - When It's Over
Album: Sugar Ray | Year: 2001
- This as closing edits of The Sweetest Thing made my day! It is such a fun song, which is why it fit perfectly.
Weapons f/ Jem - Thieves
Album: Weapons | Year: 2006
- Did you know Jem has two siblings in this band? That explains the banner on her
Myspace! After
Amazing Life, she did this and
Once In Every Lifetime (Eragon soundtrack).
I have no idea what happened to Liz Phair. She had an album in 2005 (Somebody's Miracle) but after that, I do not think anything has been released about her. According to a fansite,
Mesmerizing, she toured a bit, was on the Charmed soundtrack, had some songs in Julie Johnson, and performed live for Pepper Dennis (a show on WB) in 2006. Her myspace:

Hope everyone has a great week, especially for those of you looking forward to March Madness kicking off. Do not forget to change your clocks, smoke alarm batteries, and then kick electronics that do not update because you cannot kick the reason for them not working correctly
