Idk about Elorde but I'm sure UP kept Marata because he's a recent graduate and he probably wanted to play right away.
Anyway, let me show you this article how messy FEU has become just to have a chance at season 76 championships...

A NEWLY MINTED clausein the new UAAP residency rules spares a transferee from going through a two-year residency period if he gets his release papers from his former school.
Jerie Pingoy, though, can't expect such courtesy from Far Eastern University.
Anton Montinola, FEU's representative to the UAAP board, stated in no uncertain terms that the school won't grant a release to Pingoy, the former FEU high school star who stirred controversy when he decided to play college ball with the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
"No," Montinola stated curtly in a text message to Spin.ph when asked if FEU will give Pingoy his release papers.
Under the contentious residency rules that were passed by the UAAP board in the aftermath of Pingoy's controversial decision to move to Ateneo, the release papers would have allowed the former UAAP juniors MVP to suit up for Ateneo this season without going through two years of residency.
Without a release, the Cebuano point guard will have to wait until 2015 - or his junior year in college - before he can join the Blue Eagles in the UAAP.
Montinola said that if Pingoy wants to be spared the two-year residency rule, he can always move to a non-UAAP member school like San Beda.
“He may transfer to San Beda so that he can play already this June 2013 in the NCAA. No need to sit for two years residency if he plays in the NCAA," Montinola said.
“ADMU officials and the UAAP board are aware of this solution,” Montinola, incidentally an Ateneo alumnus, added.
The NCAA does not require high school transferees to go through a period of residency.

That evilness of Montinola showing just because they flopped so hard in season 75 of UAAP from their basketball to volleyball programs, they really pushed for this two year residency rule. Mess.
