This sounds like a Miguel song, not a Mariah song. And one of the major 'complaints' is that Miguel has more of a presence on the song.
And "Adorn"'s success surpasses the successes (or lack thereof) of several singles by Mariah in recent history. So he does play A part in whatever success it garners.

Yes he does play a factor as he co-wrote, co-produced, and co-starred on the song but he isn't the main reason. This record is doing well (so far) because of the great perception it has garnered. Although the song is doing well on Rhythmic and Urban AC, it isn't doing well on Urban at all. The song is succeeding the most on POP, which Miguel is not too acquainted with
A lot of people did compalin about Miguel being in it too much but they probably don't have any knowledge of Mariah or her music because Mariah always opens second on her duets, especially with guys, for example:
1. Whenever You Call --- Brian opens for her, she sings second chorus
2. One Sweet Day --- Boyz II Men opens for her, she sings later
3. Endless love --- Although it is Luther's song he opens first then she follows
4. When You Believe --- Whitney first, Mariah follows
5. The Beautiful Ones -- Dru Hill opens for her
.....etc......
This song is more of a duet than a feature because they both get equal parts, literally.
Adorn's success surpassing other Mairah Carey singles lately has to do with the fact that Mariah's releases in recent years: Triumphant and Almost Home didn't have good receptions and weren't promoted AT ALL.
No one here denied his factor but he isn't the ultimate factor for the success, at least not commercially.
