It may or may not be, but I wouldn't mind if it was a ballad at all tbh.
I'd rather them have acclaim over success. Finger crossed this won't be generic.

It is a proper big honest and direct boyband pop single. It’s not ‘EDM’ and it’s not dubstep and it’s not an Ed Sheeran soundalike and it’s not trying to be cool. The whole thing is gloriously uncomplicated; it is what it is and what it is is amazing.

It sounds like it’s halfway between a One Direction song and a Wanted song without really trying to sound like either. It seems important that Union J don’t step on any toes and with ‘Carry You’ they’ve pulled off something that’s different enough to create their own space while still seeming instantly familiar.

The big hook in the chorus goes “I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you, I’ll carry you”. Each ‘you’ is more like ‘you-OOOH-ou’, which is pretty yodeltastic whichever way you look at it.

Um no, releasing something that sounds anything like any 1D single would be a horrible idea
They need to find their own sound (hopefully something not as childish as 1D) and go forward with that

Why not? We already know that You only have young fans right? 1D released the kind of music that young people like. That's why they are very successful.

They will still be compared to 1D no matter what kind of music they will release.

They have a chance to be more successful than 1D. They have their look. They are from the xfactor.

And i'm not sure where you were going with your second point since 1D are from X Factor too and they are apparently 'hot', but I agree, I think UJ can become bigger than 1D if they find there own sound and image
