I was an unfortunate victim of commercialism and I brought this **** tip two times, simply because my pre-order didn't arrive in the post. Upon picking it up I soon realised that it may have well have been called MW2: Part 2; there's nothing particularly special about it and a-liking it with MW2 is enough insult to injury. The series has gone nowhere of any particular interest since Call of Duty 4, which arguably is the most influential game in the 21st century. Without it's persistant online multiplayer and (relatively) gargantuan sales I doubt we would all be caught in an over-saturation within the gaming market of First Person Shooters.

It took you 8 iterations of MW on the same game engine to realize all of this?

There have only been five including MW3. It hasn't taken me that long, I'm just a victim of marketing campaigns, I get hyped up about these things far too much. I'm a consumer in a developed modern society with the motto that: "We buy therefore we are". I don't think that I miss out on many huge consumer goods, I mean I have an iPad, an iPhone, a MacBook, an Xbox and the list continues...

I love hyping myself up, but that series fell off the deep-end. Modern Warfare was amazing at the time, though. Then again, when the traditional gaming industry is falling to pieces, you have to appreciate the few juggernauts (Call of Duty, World of Warcraft) that continue to bring in colossal, record-breaking sales.

It was expected. This is the most anticipated game in history, I wish the game was as good as Battlefield 3 though (Gameplay and graphics wise).

But the lasting appeal is really great, it's arguably the biggest multiplayer/online game in history.

The first one (as in COD 4 yet COD 1 was amazing in its own right) because it moved the series to the modern world (although that may have simply been a matter of building off of BF2's hype). In doing so, it engineered this addictive multiplayer mode that has both sold millions and been cloned countless times in various forms.
