Personally speaking, I think listening to music is halal, just as long as the content in the music you're listening to is halal. If the content in the music you're listening to talks about sex, drugs, alcohol, etc., then that's when I think listening to music is considered haram (but literally everyone in my sig talks about haram content in their music, so..
). However, I don't listen to music during Ramadan just to make sure that my fasting counts. A lot of people seem to think that fasting = no eating but fasting also includes abstinence from all things haram through all 5 human senses. While Ramadan is abstinence from all foods and drinks, it's also abstinence from haram sights, abstinence from haram sounds, abstinence from haram smells and abstinence from haram touches.
If you want to listen to music, it's your choice but just make sure the content in the music you're listening to is halal. This also goes for anything else. You guys can do whatever you want just make that the content in anything you hear or watch etc. is halal.
