iTunes is not a big deal in other countries AT ALL. The whole idea of having an online account and downloading music to your phone...not big worldwide. I've had people telling me they want to buy the album but don't know how to since they can't access iTunes USA (not even knowing we have a national store!).
That's not even touching on the fact that international audiences aren't generally as plugged in to the likes of Billboard and Gawker and Jezebel to be up on all the latest news. The ones who are are most likely also on Tumblr and forums like this one, so illegal downloads galore. Many, many, many of her fans will depend on their national radio playing a song and letting them know the album is out before they go out and buy it. Here in Brazil at least she'll probably have to put out a couple hit songs or three before album sales get going: what really sells here is live performances and live DVDs.
And yeah, 3 days is a short time, especially for foreign markets where her releasing an album won't immediately have your entire newsfeed taken over by Beyoncé news, reviews and thinkpieces. Let's talk again in six months.
