The release would've been lost in the Christmas shuffle in Q4, and could have been stuck at #2. While I doubt anyone else on here is old enough to remember this, people questioned Britney Spears' label's decision to old off on releasing her debut CD in Q4 of 1998 and wait until January 1999. Her label did so for the same reason. It guaranteed a #1 debut for
,,,Baby One More Time, and the CD went on to sell 12 million CD copies sold.
Yes, I already know Trainor cannot and will get anywhere close to 12 million. Adele will eventually get to 12 million with
21, and Taylor Swift at best can get to 8 million with
1989. I am just giving an example and a reason why Trainor's label label waited until January to release the full-length version of
Titile. Besides, selling 200,000 actual CD and Digital Album copies during a week in January is outstanding anyway.
