I don't like DJ White Shadow's production on the song tbh. I miss RedOne , I mean Just Dance, Poker Face, Alejandro, Bad Romance, Judas instrumentals>> DJ White Shadow
Let's just be happy he was there to save the lead single. Her children will be all over the rest of the era.
DJWS simply isn't a great producer. None of his productions compare to the complex productions of Zedd and Madeon. At least that's something to look forward to.
I stand here waiting
For you to bang the gong
To crash the critic saying
Is it right or is it wrong?
If only fame had in, I’d be
Baby, could I bare?
Being away from you
I found that they put it in here
Mutilators, do you at least accept she's a bad songwriter tho?
As as a composer, producer of contemporary music, and a musician, I'd have to agree with your succinct appraisal.
As the saying goes, You Can't Knock Success, but there is so much music out there that when put side by side against this track would explain why this is such a slight track - all veneer and plastic veneer at that.
It's only success is in the first thirty seconds, and the success comes in the form of grabbing one's attention. When something has been compressed and maximised to the extent that this track has, that isn't that hard to do. Again, quoting from another poster, I've forgotten the entire track already. Not a great sign.
Lady Gaga in terms of image tries too hard to be edgy, avant garde, perhaps even sophisticated. Yet put Alison Goldfrapp on the stage wearing a baggy black blouse and short black dress and she leaves Gaga standing in the dust, without even trying.
This contrivance of edginess is completely at odds with the old-material Britney Spears style material she seems to churn out endlessly. Artists from any form have to have an understanding that audiences can sense hollowness, and this is what has always made me feel uneasy about Lady Gaga. Clearly her "Little Monsters" seem happy enough, but, for me, I would be far more interested in seeing Stefani Germanotta rather than Gaga, her alter-ego and pantomime dame.
Finally, aside from the music, as a gay man, as with Madonna, I'd rather have neither of them as megaphones for LGBT issues. This too is hollow, and nothing more than showboating and often paying no more than Lip Service to oppressed LGBT people, in the very countries they tour in and derive enormous income from.

Your eloquence is supreme
And yes you are spot on in everything you say. Some people are edgy because they are edgy. Some people are groundbreaking because thats what they are. Bowie comes to mind
She tries way to hard to be a trend setter and to go against the "norm". I think the little monsters thing is a smart gimmick though. If you give them a feeling that they are part of a bigger family that will lead them to have blind faith and not question you when what you are producing is shite and what you represent has all the depth of a kiddies paddling pool.
An excellent post miffy. If I could recommend it multiple times I would.

Thank you for your kind words. As for eloquence, I can only say touché!
You've definitely hit on something regarding her Little Monsters and the sense of belonging they would almost certainly derive from being, or feeling, a part of that group. It is indeed a smart gimmick as you say.
Perhaps Lady Gaga's mercurial ascendency was due in part to a kind of "hole" in the market that she so avidly appeals to. Her active presence on Social Media, and her inter-activity with her little monsters also creates a "me too" environment, where her fan base clamour for the badge of honour that is a tweet from Gaga herself.
None of this takes away the pervasive feeling that Lady Gaga just doesn't ring true for me. I think for a moment when she first made it big, I felt that perhaps here was someone interesting, but unlike David Bowie's theatrical creations which have always segued the image and music together in a meaningful and visceral way, now when I see Lady Gaga wearing a toilet seat on her head or wearing television sets as shoes, I just think "why?", because there is no purposeful connexion between what the eye sees and the ear hears.
Thanks again for your post, I'll be dreaming of little monsters tonight.
AT LAST I've been able to connect here, anyways, straight to the point, Gaga's song is bullshhhh, DJWS production work is OK but that doesn't help the song, which misses an instrumental break and good lyrics
