I agree with pretty much all of that. This is what I think was meant by that "the real Taylor Swift hasn't stood up yet" comment from last year; people don't pay enough attention to the artistry of Taylor's work, but eventually I think people will come to realize the true depth of her ability.
Her ability to blend and cross genres is entirely underrated. Her ability to write and compose wildly successful songs by herself is entirely underrated. Her attention to detail- Last Kiss's 27 second opening, the 13 bell strikes when performing Haunted- is underrated. Her lyricism is- to an extent- underrated. She as a person, and especially as an artist, is underrated by the public.
Not many people realize that Taylor's song about Mayer actually sounds like a Mayer song itself, and not many people realize that Mean is basically a sarcastic "**** you" to people who say she's not country...
It'd be really interesting to identify all of Taylor's influences, more than just the obvious Mayer, Shania, Paramore, etc. I'm not even sure it'd be possible to list them all.
Kind of unrelated, but i got to a part in the hunger games book today that I definitely think inspired Taylor to write safe and sound. It is when Katniss is singing the old lullaby to Rue, I hope safe and sound is in that scene somewhat
