reminding myself to peep their singles from this year, turns out ~lounge jazz~ is a good addition to their sound.

94. Madonna f/ Nicki Minaj - Bitch I'm Madonna


Sophie was actually like THE mvp of this year; you'll see as the list goes on! But MADONNA
and Nicki obv were really the only the 2 for the job in terms of bringing this particular one to life.

93. Tinashe f/ Young Thug - Party Favors


Thugger was another MVP but he doesn't exactly make this one, that twin distinction goes to the hypnotic beat and Tinashe's effortless back and forth between the light and the dark inside of it. She had a good year.

92. DMA'S - Delete


Oasis aping always a good look. With such conviction. I want to read some literature on all the
little differences between the Brit accent and the Australian one. What do we have on that.

an album not a song yes but it's a super recent release and I haven't listened enough yet to be splitting the tracks up in my head like that. don't know whether it qualifies as ~metal or not? but definitely the first time in recent memory I've heard rock this heavy come out sounding this melodic and...pleasing, gonna need to need to carve a spot for them on the '16 list for sure

Honeypoon for the most part put me the **** to sleep, but I found this its most genuine + memorable moment. Not that ''genuine'' matters with Lana but. Also my best friend's gay best friend who I want to hook up with but will never be able to because that would be a disaster is named Terrence, so I really related to this song a lot.

Ok this is obviously one of the VERY best songs of the year but after I'd already forgotten a crucial song and had to bump the list to 101 I realized I was missing another and well Grimes didn't need 3 songs on the list when only a couple of others even had 2! but it's just one of those 'oh my gosh for the 4 minutes I'm listening to this song I'm pretty sure it's the best thing I've ever heard' tricks that Art Angels is full of. the flipping of a straight Kelly Clarkson style bass riff into something like 3x more subtle that somehow connects 3x as hard once it finally hits you on like the 3rd listen, and neva eva eva lets go. my gahh

"What is Selena Gomez's talent" they ask? Pretty sure if she can moan over ambient for 4 minutes

Missed it the first 300 times I heard my friend play it in her car as part of the Jason Derulo: The Works playlist,
but that chorus is an absolutely perfect pop melody. Never thought he would have a song this good, OK 2015.

I kinda sense some of that L.O.V.E. approach i.e. hiding that little bit of pop pleasure inside something more
foreign and less clear, just the difference here being that foreign element is the much more pleasurable one

For all the bangingness of the whole album, there was a cynicism you just couldn't really
shake, at least until you got to the last track which felt like a refreshing blast of genuine.
