I don't think anything super juicy went on behind the scenes. I imagine he just wasn't satisfied with how things were going and he gave up on the group altogether. Changing the dynamic of the group after so many years must be quite challenging. Plus I always knew if Blackpink had a good reception (and they did) he would give up on 2NE1. He then terminated Bom's contract, disbanded the group, kicked her off the company and kept CL and Dara.

Mess at CL's message. I wouldn't be surprised if Square One and Square Two are just re-recorded songs from the 2ne1 album that was canceled.
YG probably wasn't expecting BP to blow up so quickly. They looked at that, took a look at Bom and said "yep, not worth it. scrap it."

Well, 15-20 finalized and ready to go English songs. They have a LOT of demos, including the ones worked on with Will.I.Am.
I heard initially that a handful of songs were songs originally written in English, but recorded in Korean, including I Love You, Come Back Home, and Gotta Be You.
I'm just bummed their English debut was scrapped, they'd have been even bigger globally.

I Love You is truly the global smash that got away. It's my favorite 2NE1 song, and you can tell by the structure of it, that an English version would have sounded flawless.

They only did 2 tracks. Plus Blackpink recorded their 8 "Square" songs before that. I wouldn't be surprised if those 2 songs end up going to them eventually tho. I mean, what else could they use them for?
Still I hope someone leaks them with 2NE1's vocals. Dara seems quite mad at him at the moment. She better get to work

LOL are you kidding me? Kpop girl groups are at the mercy of their management companies. SNSD is like the only group that actually has leverage these days and they're using it to make sure that each/most of the girls gets a chance at releasing solo stuff.
For the rest of the girl groups, nope. They're slaves to the machine.

CL probably still wants to do Korean solos ( even though Korea doesn't want them).
Dara is still booking CF deals, so I'm sure YG doesn't want to let go of that coin. She's also pretty damn popular in other parts of Asia. I don't know if she needs YG to keep these deals going, though.
