Madonna was never a celebrity in the way that Marilyn or Angelina are though so this makes no sense.
Marilyn constructed her persona and turned herself into a star. In many ways Madonna has done the same thing. I suppose that's why a lot of people say Madonna's only talent is marketing herself (i don't agree obviously). If you watch Marilyn's later movies before her death her acting was getting much better than her earlier works. Plus she had this X-factor about her just like Madonna.
