I liked JJ's reasoning I heard a few months ago - he made it follow the same beats of the original so that the only way you could really *hate* the movie is if you're racist/sexist.
It is a bit repetitive, but that didn't bother me at all. Was a fantastic film, still probably my favourite of the 7. Still not sure if Rey Kenobi fits into my trinity of Palpatine and Yoda though. I think she needs an epic moment to solidify herself at the top of my favourite characters.
Nothing has come of the Obi-wan spin off movie rumours yet, have they? I need it to be real, Ewan Mcgregor was flawless in the role and then they could easily explain that Rey is his granddaughter and I will be happy forever.

If Han + Boba Fett are getting their own films, Obi-Wan HAS to have one. I'd love to hear about his Jedi initiation or his life on Tatooine between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.
So it looks like based on leaked set photos, we will be going back to
Naboo
. Would be a great way to tie in the prequels to the sequel trilogy without making it too pandering.
While I enjoyed episode 7, I really hope we will see more lightsaber duels in Episode 8... I really want to see Luke as a badass jedi in a lightsaber fight... And hopefully Rey too.

Yeah I thought the same thing when I first read it but the more I think about it the more I think that it would kinda be a decent way to go about the story. And it definitely shows why Rey was so crazy powerful with the force. The last person who had that level of power was anakin, because he was born of the force.
I have to admit, the line itself does sound corny. But I do like the concept. They probably wanted it as this trilogy's "I am your father" moment. But keep in mind, on the slight chance that this is all true, it would be a very early version of the script. Maybe they've found a way of phrasing that sounds less corny

Hopefully. It gives me Once Upon a Time vibes. What with the Dark One and his/her dagger being able to see visions of past Dark Ones and what not.
Would be a fun concept though.
