The only thing I don't like is when society pushes people to feel ugly without plastic surgery. Like in Korea for example. It's basically the norm there, and that in itself is fine. But some people are pushed to do surgery just because society tells them they should. Obviously, that happens here in the United States too.
I don't care what people have done with their bodies, as long as they are happy with themselves afterwards. I don't think I would ever have plastic surgery for myself, but just because I wouldn't, doesn't mean someone else shouldn't feel good about themselves for doing it.
As for the braces thing, that's the first time I've ever heard that they were cosmetic actually, but I don't really disagree.
but why is altering the shape of your teeth any different from altering the structure of your bones?
It isn't. I never said it was. They asked me why I said it's ok for braces and I said your teeth stay they same. They are just in a straight line now. The braces don't make your actual teeth smaller or bigger. They just put them in place.
Idk, at this point we'll just have to agree to disagree. Was refreshing to have a conversation like this without it turning sour!

Right!? I'm glad not to many went off base. I have no problem with hearing other people's pov. It's interesting and causes you to think about what you feel. I surely didn't think this any people would have a problem with my views, but I'm mature and able to take any questions or problems that arise.

Bottom line is you had them altered because you didn't like the way they looked. No different from someone doing the same to their nose, ass or breasts.
d not always. most orthodontists shave down your teeth after taking the braces off so they can be more even.
Wasn't the case with me. The only time my teeth ever got shaved down were my canines (because they were "too sharp" according to my ortho). I still want to punch her in the gut for that. I clearly said "no!"

You're just as shallow as the rest of us.
Again you can try to call me "shallow" but I clearly explained why I got them. It wasn't my choice. Stay upset though.
True, I actually had to have teeth removed when I had my braces, because I had too many and they wouldn't have straightened otherwise.
I'd kind of like to have them again but i'd have to pay because i'm over 18 and it's classed as cosmetic in the UK once you're an adult.
Yeah I had to get teeth removed as well. I'm scared about my teeth moving back to their original position so I'm thinking of getting a permanent retainer.

Nothing wrong with it.
It's just that people respect natural beauty more (bc you were born with it as opposed to bought at a doctor's office).
Plus, the features you were born with = genetic. You can shave your nose all you want but your kids are still gonna have those features you snipped away.
