I have a question: How could they improve in term of basic specifications?
They both already do 1080, and 1080 will not go away for a while.
Their graphics performance is already superior, they do 3D gaming, the only thing I can think of is incorporating Blu-Ray into the Xbox.

Graphics are not superior, look at any PC game and you will see. They both need more RAM.

Not to mention you're only gonna be buying it because its a rather cheap Blu Ray player and can also microwave your food.


You aren't going to be playing many games on it, most play better on the Xbox 360 anyways, online being much better on that console.

You're right,

Ram is one of the biggest issues with the current home console, they are tapped out.

PC is FAR superior but ofcourse you would need upwards of 1.5K to really get that experience.

But I went over to a friends house and saw his PS3 and I was thoroughly impressed.

The thing people aren't realizing is announcing a console doesn't mean it's being released the same year. There have been plenty of games and consoles that were announced years before they actually dropped. They just wanna give a taste of what they have so far. Considering the consoles are still selling pretty well and some big titles yet to come, I would expect a 2014 release for these new consoles (maybe sooner for PS3). An announcement shouldn't stop you from buying the consoles now since the new ones are still a few years down the road.
