-He completed 37 of 50 passes for 328 yards and four touchdowns, one of the best statistical performances in Super Bowl history against an elite defense.
Overall: Tom Brady now has most career passes, completions, passing yards and TDs in Super Bowl history - as well as most completions in SB game.
All reasons why this Super Bowl has been one of the more exciting games in the recent years, hence the spike in ratings/viewership. Not because of, as Anderson Cooper put it, the "Nickelodeon" produced Half Time show.

The ignorance.
There were millions of people watching the game for that very reason. Do you follow any sportswriters on Twitter? No, that's why you don't see any football-related tweets. I do, and so I was bombarded with statistical content during the game.
Deflategate made this Super Bowl very anticipated, and it helped boost the ratings. This had nothing to do with the halftime show. In fact, the Super Bowl ratings NEVER have anything to do with the halftime show!
I'm not coming in here with an agenda. I am not a stan of any artist who has done the show in the past, and I am not trying to discredit Katy as she did put on a good show. But don't make the mistake of attributing the unusually high ratings to her.
