Listened to the(pop) radio all day and found myself thinking how awful pop-song lyrics are in general. I was literally facepalming all the time. And then thought about people giving Taylor crap for her lyrics. Taylor is a ****ing Shakespeare compared to most of that stuff. Even BOU really stands out among that horrible mediocrity in pop-radio. Message and lyrics-wise at least.
Tough call I'd say her debut is better as a whole in that it has no weak tracks. Musts from that album include Cold as You, Teardrops on my guitar, Should've Said No, and Mary's song. Speak Now has some weak tracks like TSOU and Sparks Fly but it has songs which are far greater than anything her debut had. Those songs would be Back To December( If you love Someone like You you'll probablly like this) Enchanted(fan favorite and loved by most non-Taylor fans as well), Haunted, Never grow Up(a song about her moving into her apartment and the sadness of leaving your family and starting a new life on your own), and Dear John(her best lyrical work). Both are great albums and glad you've joined the Taylor nation I
Thanks, I think I will get her debut at some point. Should've Said No was included on the edition of Fearless that I bought (must have been a special international edition) and was one of my favourite tracks on there, so it seems I would like the music on her debut.
oh man i am still shocked at pheonix 83 turning from a taylor hater to a taylor fan in a matter of a week!!!
I just thought "country" and dismissed her. She was quite an easy target to hate on.
But she was different to what I had assumed and I quite like her music (at least from what I've heard on Fearless). I appreciate female singer-songwriters as well so I will probably like her other work unless it is too "hardcore country".
Anyway let's not get carried away I'm not going to become a stan. But her music was definitely worth giving a chance to.

I know you weren't here when we had discussion on this earlier but neither one has any chance of getting an oscar SAS could score a golden globe but under the rules only ARcade Fire is eligible. Such a shame would it be to see Pitbull win an Oscar for Back in Time while Taylor doesn't even get a nomination.
