Not they didn't. Most of the tracks off Born To Die were per-written before she even got signed. Not to mention the countless praise she got prior to going "mainstream" and VG rated one of the best songs of 2011 by critics. (A song she wrote on her own).

She didn't write the song on her own, she wrote the LYRICS on her own. Big difference.

Yeah, she sang on it. Gotye's words . Like 1000's of featured artists/session singers before her. I note you aren't claiming Kimbra will ever have a US #1 single on her own, with one of her own songs, either. At least have the guts to predict Kimbra's album will go Top 2 on the BB200, though. No? Kimbra is more talented in every aspect,and her debut album has sold as much as if not more than Born To Die in every country it has been released. Her album has been more acclaimed thus far and it hasn't even been released, she produces and composes while Lana doesn't, she has actually written tracks on her own (five to be exact) and Lana never has,the list goes on.
