I ask this without any shade meant, what exactly did Britney do in the last year to earn more money than most of today's current pop stars? Did they count the X-Factor deal?
She toured, album and single sales. Her Elizabeth Arden fragrances also continually sell (net worth $1billion). And no the X Factor won't come into play until 2013.
They don't judge the list on income alone. Like they said they gave her props for staging a comeback of sorts. I think they should have a more mathematical system, but I'm still cool with it.

JLO is amazing and she really deserves it all I always liked her and yeah I was afraid that she's over few years ago. Now she's still here, as strong as she used to be.

Gaga with the same income as JLo, beating her in every other category.... yet finished 4 spots behind This list is done for publicity. There is NO logic or formula behind it, they pick and choose the placing.
Why is JLo's TV rank so low anyway?! She is an AI judge, the star of the show, and appears weekly for like half the year. It would make sense if they ranked her first there.

Singers always make way more than actresses. Said this a million times. Angelina was the highest paid actress last year and she 'only' made like $30 million dollars.
Fact is Angelina is #13 on the list and Beyonce is #18 despite Bey having an era out + a lot of buzz because of her pregnancy while Angie only had like a self-directed movie that didn't even do that well.
