The bottom line is that if he really cared about her he would have said directly to Rihanna on twitter that it isn't about her, and would apologise to the fans and her. Because even if it's not about her, it's so easy for other people to assume that it is since their relationship was so public.
As a friend he should have cleared it up right away. But no, he favourited a tweet about Rihanna blocking him over the song, quickly deleted that tweet, then left twitter for several hours, allowing **** to hit the fan and rumours to spread. THIS shows that he is doing it for attention and he doesn't give a **** about the fact that it casts Rihanna in a bad light to all the people that will assume (which is 90% of the GP).
