the album is still selling and she has a single that is climbing so yup.
And yeah well she's starting to write on it, but that's normal, she said she used to write music on tour a lot. I mean the writing prozess takes longer than recording.

Albums die prematurely all the time. Look at any rapper, they're albums sell next to nothing and after one or so singles they move on because no matter the promotion, it's likely it won't help.
I don't mean it in a bad way. Despite Selena's HTL going for adds, her album is dead too. It's just how the world works.

I think its too late for the album.
its not going gold unless a miracle happens imo.
and I'm not TRYING to blame anyone but the album stopped selling because there were no promo and no single.
her single basically launched when the video came out.

well Unbroken is actually reacting well to GYHAB's airplay. She's probably close to the top 200 again and is constantly top 175 on itunes.
Once GYHAB gets more airplay it will keep increasing, but it obviously won't sell as much as it would have if the timing in this era would've been good or even close to acceptable, but it's not so... but that doesn't mean it's dead imo, as long as it's still reacting to promotion.

IMO there's still a chance for Unbroken to go gold, IF GYHAB can blow up and go at least top 15 on pop radio, and if there will be a third single.
But we all know it will be hard. But to be totally honest, it's not like the world is ending because of that. Doesn't keep her from selling way more in the future

For some reason I'm pretty sure it'll go gold though.

Despite how GYHAB is helping Unbroken, the album is struggling outside of the top 200, and may barely re-enter at some point but it's dead. There's no way around it. The era isn't dead because she's still going on tour but the album is, making it pointless to release more singles.
Part of being a good fan is knowing when it's too late and when releasing another single is fruitless.

The album was dead before the MTV documentry too, but after that it jumped to top 10 on itunes and we got great sales that week (don't exactly remember how much it sold) but the point is if it gets a push it can definetly go gold.

I don't get everyone trying to give a definition for being a 'good fan' or 'real fan' etc honestly...
So many people do that.
To me being a real fan just means you support the artist and buy the artist's music.
Also, a new single release isn't always linked to the album it's on. An album can hardly sell anymore, but then a new single on that album is released, and if the single is a good choice it can revive the album.
It's basically what happened with GYHAB. Unbroken struggles to stay in the top 200 now.
Before GYHAB as a single we'd be happy if it was in the top 300.

It's not too late as long as it's still reacting well to any publicity. Which it is. Almost re-entered top 100 after the music video.
And of course it's not like the album is selling well right now. But she will be selling better once GYHAB would blow up. If she can get back her momentum with GYHAB then another single won't be useless at all.

Even if GYHAB blows up (which I hope it does), it's not likely to assist the album because it's not representative of Unbroken.
Plus we have got to keep it real when talking about iTunes. Digital sales are not high and while iTunes is the largest digital seller, anything outside of the top 50 is selling in the very low-mid hundreds.
If GYHAB does smash, it only makes sense to bring her 4th album earlier than later with songs with similar Hot AC/Adult Pop characteristics.

it's obviously already helping... even if itunes doesn't really matter, it still represents the album's popularity. Before GYHAB the album was out of the top 400 on itunes and now it's top 200. The difference is probably like 200 copies per week, but the physical sales are obviously higher too.
singles won't do much, but they will help anyway. And a single like Unbroken that has a chance of going top 15/10 on radio can help her get more radio support, plus it'll get her more popularity.
even if it doesn't do **** for the album, it helps her as a musician and artist.

The thing is she's not even in the top 200 on Billboard. She's not selling enough physical copies to even equal out the physical album sales to enter the top 200.
There is no reason for a label to shell out full promotion for a third single, even ending it to radio adds when her album is not selling enough. There are other people on their roster too, and it's not like Hollywood Records is a very profitable company.
But any label would tell you the same thing, with her current album sales, there's no reason to even hope for a third single. A label making more money than HWR wouldn't take the risk either. Chalk it up to the state of the industry.

It isn't Demi's fault though, at all.
its the label's fault for waiting too long, Skyscraper made the album sell almost 300k, they should've moved on fast to the next single.

it still means she's selling around 3k every week, and if GYHAB gets more airplay it will obviously re-enter the top 200. But i do get your point.
All i'm saying is that they should either release a new single in Summer, or start the new era already. She can't take a break of 6 months without any publicity and without any release of anything.

the new single should've been relased in late October. Skyscraper was dead by then, and they could easily have moved on. It'd probably have died in January, and we could be at the end of a third single by now.
I'm glad they were trying to push Skyscraper, but they stopped promoting it after the album release anyway, so why let it be like that?
They should've known that Demi won't go anywhere without her singles after taking a two year break.

There are ALWAYS problems with promo and singles. Fans and labels don't see eye-to-eye on the same thing. It isn't just the HWR artists. There are so many artists who are unintentionally screwed by their label.
HWR did what they thought was best by scheduling the second single release to coincide with an MTV special, VEVO specials, an American Idol performance and more. They did their job in this case too.
