My favorite part of Pound the alarm is her rap part... The breakdown is kinda... straining after a while.

I think she means she might release the video for VVV she already shot OR do a new one. As the one filmed in December was in the same style as Stupid Hoe, might be smarter to do a brand new one, so its not seen as a sequel...

Nicki's been confusing me a lot lately with the past interviews this era along with her attitude on certain things. She'll say one thing, do something totally different that opposes that, and then release a statement via interview/twitter opposing it too. I don't even think she knows who she is as an artist. So instead, she takes it as a "this is me, this is what I wanna do" but her actions say different. "Me" for Nicki, is wherever the money's at. I partly sympathize and understand due to her realizing she may have a short shelf life so she wants to get the most out of it with success -- but is it worth it? Is money > quality. Cus let's be real. We may like PTA, Whip It, Starships, Automatic, etc because their fun, but is it really quality? Is this some groundbreaking ****? She can do groundbreaking pop just as well as she can do groundbreaking hip hop. She isn't one of the most diverse artists for nothing, she's been different since her mixtape days. There's never been a female rapper like her. Use that power to make something innovating. Right now quite frankly she's just following trends and trying to please everybody. This isn't bad for the moment, but I'm just afraid this will be her mindset from now on.
On a more personal opinion, I'm ****ing dead at her contemplating doing a mixtape and you all who are here for it. Besides, a mixtape feels so unofficial and as a Rap Nicki fan, being as far as she's come since her mixtape days AND seeing how she's been able to lay down some incredible verses after mixtape days -- that's seems like some type of backwards logic to me and isn't "winning."

Depends what you mean by that. If you mean "Are the lyrics deep, personal, and full of substance?" then no. But a song doesn't have to have that to be a quality song. If you mean "Are these songs quality examples of this type of song, done as well as if not better than the vast majority of similar songs?" then absolutely.

Do you know when the promo for RBMS will start? I sorta don't want it to be too overshadowed by "Starships".

I'll say they have character because she raps on them, and it's "Nicki rapping" cus no other artist can do that besides her, but that's it. That's where it ends. Like I said, I do love the songs so it's not so much me bashing her pop side but it's the "is this the only thing were going to do from now on? And if so, are we just going to follow the current trend sound?" Trends die. And people forget them. But then again, Nicki follows money and nothing else. She could bleach her skin, drop hip hop altogether (like not even feature on hip hop songs either), become Dr. Luke's biggest fan and it wouldn't hurt her conscience at all as long as she's getting that money. But at this moment right now, while she's putting out the pop singles to front the album, she's contemplating putting out a mixtape to feed us Rap Nicki fans some scraps I feel like I'm being thrown a bone to shutup about it as a Rap Nicki fan. Like were the redheaded stepchild right now.
Nicki has "it". She can do something out of this world as long as her head's in the right place. She' got like 5 years left in this game so what the ****. Go pop Nicki, if you think that's really what'll get you money/fame/success but make it something worthwhile while you're here at least.
Anyway, I just haven't said my piece on this matter yet so I said it and I felt like I really needed to get it out. I may be wrong on a few things, but I had to get it out. I'm not going to give anything more than a sentence on this subject here for a week or so since I know how we are, I promise.

Cause you're the only ones complaining, so you're the only ones who she'd feel a need to give something extra to. She doesn't need to give something extra to the pop fans, because they're not the ones threatening to shun her for daring to have *gasp* a variety of music. If I were in your position, I'd just be thankful for getting a mixtape as it would mean more of the kind of Nicki I liked.
That she started as a hip-hop artist is irrelevant. The fact is that now, she is a hybrid, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT SHE WANTED TO BE AND BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MAKES HER HAPPY AND FULFILLED AS AN ARTIST. So you know what? It's just as valid for someone to say, "The 2nd half of the album is great, but I'm just sad that the 1st half is all songs I find boring and unimaginative" as it is for people to complain about the 2nd half. It's one thing to say "I dislike this half or that half," it's another thing entirely to BITCH and MOAN and act like she has commited some PERSONAL GRIEVANCE against you which requires some sort of apology or remorse.
I highly doubt that going more pop was SOLELY motivated by a desire for money/popularity, but even if it was, good for her. What kind of musician WOULDN'T want money and success? It's kind of the entire ****ing point.

I just thought I'd be nice and reply to your post further explaining my side, but I guess I was right. There really was a reason why I always skipped your posts.

I guess you are. I guess you are personally owed a specific kind of music from a specific artist.
Because that's how music works
