Not even close to record-breaking, but basically better than anyone ever expected, and could possibly outsell Madonna's first-week sales (despite having more competition).

That's huge.. Katy debuted with 54k and went on to selling 900k.
If Nicki could come anywhere close to that, then it's an amazing accomplishment for a female rapper from the US.

Even Hard Candy sold almost 100k. And Confessions on the Dancefloor sold nearly 300k as far as I remember. So MDNA numbers were disappointing.

HC got a promo tour & COADF was a November release. MDNA #s are fine given the single's lack of success and she never stepped foot there. Plus it added to her career in other ways.
