How isn't she? She has some awful performances, but so does Rihanna, Kesha, Gaga, etc. She writes majority of her music and has co-produced on some of her hits.

She may not be able to sing or perform very well (assuming that's what you were getting at) but being able to write catchy pop songs is a talent in itself.

I think any hate she gets is a combination of her success with her basicness. She's doing extremely well while not really doing anything different from what's been done before and people either don't think it's fair or that she's deserving. So it isn't straight jealousy but it's obviously part of it.
