But is she the standard? When people think of chameleon popstars, they're not thinking about Rihanna, they're thinking about Madonna. Even if she's the one who changes it up the most among the black popstars listed here, how can she be considered the ultimate, since she's still not the one who set that standard?
Then why was she put in the poll!
Oh course she is not the one that set the standard. She is ****ing 24!
Diana Ross is already a massive legend. And without her there would BE no Janet,Whitney, Beyonce, or Rihanna. She broke color barriers so that other black pop females could do pop.
She was Beyonce, before Beyonce. Her life and scandal is why Beyonce is huge. The prettiest girl in the group, to go solo, and dominate movies and music in a solo career. Diana Ross was the rubric for Beyonce's career
Janet and Whitney too are already legends.
Whitney had the voice
And Janet laid the ground work for being a modern pop star. Sex appeal, music video, pop music yet still holding an urban following, hit movies, superb choreography etc. Janet was doing it while Beyonce was still in diapers.
There would be no Beyonce, or Rihanna without those women.
There is no Ultimate, just legends in the making. After Beyonce there will probably be some new girl who dominates and is black. There will always be some new black pop "it" girl.
