This song doesnt sound like any of Katys songs. People also like to say gaga but it doesnt sound like anything gaga's ever done either. This song is totally a Flo Rida reject.
It definitely doesn't sound anything Gaga, except maybe the house breakdown part, and that's not exclusive to her. Other than that, it has "California Gurls" beat/horns, etc. There's no denying that for me.
The first verse is actually pretty nice - so is the beginning instrumental. The chorus is very catchy but honestly I don't understand what Starships have to do with dancing & having fun but whatever. The dance breakdown is AWFUL. The rest of the song is terrible.
I only like the beginning. It sounds like a Moves Like Jagger/Judas/The Time/California Gurls jumble.
Ke$ha would never sing/rap such non-sensical lyrics. As much hate as Ke$ha gets, her lyrics always have clever humor & MAKE SENSE to the subject of the song.
Nicki's lyrics are usually VERY clever but she really dropped the ball on this song.
I've said forever that M4L is her best single, though Super Bass is pretty good at combining pop/hip-hop.
Fly is pretty forgettable, and Turn Me On is just an abomination.
Her best single is Your Love, it's a conundrum in that it's the single which put her on the map, but at the same time if it had been released once she WAS on said map, it would have peaked higher.
The rest of the song is terrible.
