Yeah, the North American deserts have recorded snow mupitle times. Las Vegas (which is in a desert) records an average of 1 cm (0.4 inches) every year.
Though in the African / Middle East deserts its rare for it to be cooler then 60F, let alone snow.

You're not. It's just the first time ever for a snow to be captured in Sahara's desert, it has only snowed twice in there (the first in 1979). So yeah, for it to snow there is pretty much a rare occasion considering it is one of the hottest regions on earth. I wouldn't strike out the idea of getting a "little worried" after all.
