Write-up:
Opening the top 10 list is the collaboration between Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera for the smash hit Moves Like Jagger. This is a risky song for Maroon 5 as they tried to come up with a different tune that is more upbeat and fun and it turned out to be a success. Lead vocalist Adam Levine really nailed the lyrics making it so memorable for the year 2011. Adam tries his best to impress his female interest with dance moves like Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger with this track. For the part of Christina, to be honest doesn’t add much on the track but just being included on the song makes it more interesting and adds flavor to it. With regards to the music video, the main attraction is Adam Levine’s sexy body as he shows those Jagger moves. At first, I do not expect anything from this song if it will do well or not; but after a couple of weeks, Moves Like Jagger tend to slay in the charts and even reached the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for a long time. It is even considered as one of a big competition for the summer song of the year. With its success it has attained worldwide, it is just right to be as this high in my list. One of the best collaborations of the year and probably one of Maroon 5’s memorable hit.

Lady Gaga makes her final appearance on my list with the lead single from her latest record of the same name, Born This Way. If you expected this to be my #1 in my list, we’ll you guessed wrong but at some point last year this was my favorite jam and probably my #1 song for a long time. When Born This Way got released, almost everyone is so excited with its released. This anticipation brought this song to a #1 debut everywhere especially on the Billboard Hot 100 where it spent a total of 6 consecutive weeks making it the 1000th #1 song in the history. At first listen, it didn’t have any effect on me but with around 5 plays, I finally love it. Born This Way is a beautiful inspirational anthem which talks about equality whether you are gay, straight, bi, lesbian or transgendered. I must say this one is a well-written track from beginning to the end as Lady Gaga clearly stated the powerful message of the song. I listened to this song frequently and I never got tired of it. The beat obviously is a big rip of the classic Madonna tune Express Yourself and majority criticized it as no originality but it doesn’t matter. Whether you think this song is a brilliant or a trash, I don’t care about that. 2011 music won’t be complete if you didn’t include this smash hit and Lady Gaga truly delivered a masterpiece that will be remembered for the coming years.
