Britney has done dance before it was popular back in 2001, when it wasn't even that popular. Everything Britney does is ahead of the curve. She did dubstep before any other mainstream artist did it, she did dance music before it was popular, she did hip-pop before it was popular. The only thing she "followed" was with bubble gum pop and even that she helped make more popular. As to Britney "following" with TTWE's she did dance music before so she is just continuing doing what she has already been doing.

Part of the reason so many new urban pop artists are compared to Beyonce is because she is the Urban Pop model, if an artist wants to be a successful urban pop artist then they follow the Beyonce formula. Beyonce is now a brand and when people say her name they are not just talking about the woman, they are talking about the voice, the look, the influences, the persona, the relationship, the glamour.

All of these could easily be flipped on it's head for Britney, regardless Beyonce did not start urban-pop. Urban-pop had started to become popular in 2000/2001, way before Beyonce went solo and female R and B artists were becoming more popular over the years as it was as we saw with Jennifer Lopez, Ashanti, Alicia Keys, Usher, Nelly, 50 Cent and others.

Britney definitely brought dubstep into the mainstream. That isn't even arguable.

Your Gaga example makes no sense seeing as how the majority of Gaga's music is indeed dance. Is the majority of Britney's music Dubstep? Is the majority of Femme Fatale Dubstep?

Dance music was popular before Gaga even came onto the music scene.

It's more advanced then a lot of other pop albums that's for sure. It fuses tons of dance elements and influences into one album and it's jam packed of different dance elements. Yes it is mostly just recycling elements Britney has already done in other albums and in other songs, but it still is far more advanced then a typical pop album.
