But why do you think the Born This Way era will influence her future success in a drastic way? I mean, it's possible, but the general public doesn't care... if the song/album is appealing, they'll buy it. Rihanna "flopped" with Rated R and turned off the GP, bu this didn't stop "Rude Boy" and then Loud from becoming hits.
If she wants to be massive again, she can do it. If she doesn't want, why would we?
Gaga needs more new fans/supporters with catchy, fun, and yet
Imagine fans increase from 5mil to 6mil OR reduce from 5mil to 4mil, there is 2 mil gap. Which one u choose, Gaga?

"Choose" is the key word. It's not like she is trying hard to cater new fans and failing, she is clearly doing what she wants, knowing a huge part of the public will be turned off. So, it's not a problem, to me, as long as she doesn't become a Cyndi Lauper (but Gaga's already had bigger success than her ).
They had to rush the change because she didn't have a strong fanbase. Gaga is fine as long as she has a supportive one... look at Britney and Madonna, they have been backlashed and have turned the GP off multiple times, but they're still here. Madonna has taken a lot of risks, has been preachy and political, so...
As I said, if she wants to be as big as she was, she knows how to do it; if she doesn't want, why should we? She's rich and powerful, a staple in Pop culture and has strong chances to be rewarded as an icon and legend by the future generations, it's not like selling more records will make her any happier than doing the music she wants. And I am happy when I see her smashing, it's not like I don't want her to be successful. But the fact is that she IS successful.
And Madonna's religious, sexual and political songs haven't been flops.
Britney was almost a taboo during the Blackout era/breakdown days. Oh, and her playback is costantly used for public bashings.
American Life? Erotica? The "Born This Way" single was huge; "Judas" flopped, but that's only one single and is her most-viewed (and appealing) video this Era.

She was? How?
True. The Erotica era is still one of the most iconic and important ones in pop history, imo.
I guess Judas is her most viewed video because after all controversy wakes interest. If the song was different it would have smashed, I think.

She need not to try, if she wants, she can have dozens of number 1 hit songs.
I hope she will only do what she wants (music) at least after 4th or 5th album.

Well, she clearly did turn off most of the public. She surely wasn't likeable. I don't know how to express myself better in English.
It had an amazing impact, but it definitely flopped and her image reached one of the lowest points ever. In other worlds, it clearly wan't the safe or radio-friendly era many fans want Gaga to do. But had an amazing impact and she was able to recover pretty well from all the backlashes and people who were turned off loved her again and bought Ray Of Light.
It's not even the song in itself. Only some parts of the lyrics and the title. Like A Prayer didn't hit that hard, though the video was even more controversial (but back then there was no Internet and maybe the music video didn't have the relevance it has today). But you can see that the LAP album sold basically half of what True Blue and Like A Virgin did.

That's why I want Gaga to at least try and get some impact out of her flops if she wants to continue this era. HML, GH, Bloody Mary and Americano all have potential to become iconic.
The video is one of - maybe the most iconic video by a female ever. I'm sure people were aware of it, it's just that the song is great.
