I remember clearly , Firework was #1 the two weeks before Xmas, Grenade was the Xmas #1 and sold like 560k+ and Firework was #2 with like 500k+, then Firework took over again and became the 1st #1 of 2011 and then Grenade went #1 again.

vatsal was referring to the Billboard week while you are referring to the exact week the song got number 1..

So yes, Grenade was Christmas #1 on 2010 but it was published on January 2011.

you could check out the billboard archives....!!! doesnt matter....both of them had similar reigns...!!!

It's very confusing, BB publishes the week they are tracking with the day of the sunday of the week after that.
For example, if they publish the chart on Thursday, December 22nd, they would put as date January 1st.
So the Christmas #1 is usually the second week of the next year in BB charts.

Well, the Black Eyed Peas were #1 for 6 months, so it probably only takes like 10 minutes to listen to all the #1s from 2009.

As far as 2009 #1s go though, I agree, that Fireflies was very unique. Also, Crack a Bottle and Boom Boom Pow were quite unique imo.

I didn't like 2009 overall though. There were a lot of good things in it, but 2007-2008 was when chart music started going downhill, and it's just got worse and worse since then. So I don't look back at 2009 fondly tbh. If it wasn't for I Gotta Feeling and Sexy Chick from that year, I think there'd be a lot more variety in the charts now.

Oops my mistake, it's released with the date of next week's Sauturday, here is an example from wikipedia:

A new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by Billboard on Thursday. Each chart is dated with the "week-ending" date of the Saturday two weeks after. Example:

Monday, January 1 – sales tracking-week begins

Wednesday, January 3 – airplay tracking-week begins

Sunday, January 7 – sales tracking-week ends

Published date is 10 days after the chart is actually released, if I'm not wrong

You're just confused by the Billboard dates. Grenade was the actual Christmas #1 as it was the one that sold 559K digital downloads during Christmas week, compared to Firework's 509K. Paul Grein's Chart Watch lists these sales for the week ending December 26, which covers Christmas sales.
