No. People say she should be an icon for her voice, but for all the vocal power she possesses, in reality she's just an oversinging mess. Her technique is atrocious and she always strains and sings from her throat when she has to belt.
She has had her moments of greatness vocally, but they have been few and far between considering the heaux's inability to follow a simple melody. The comparisons between her and Mariah/Whitney are laughable.
Of the current crop of girls I think the follow will be considered icons, Beyonce, Rihanna, Britney Spears.......
Beyonce is iconic because she's well respected she has many accolades and her career has been successful for more than a decade.
Britney..... there is no need to explain. I personally dont care for her but her status is undisputed.
Rihanna has major impact and people either love her or hate her. She is very much imitated from her clothes to her hair to her tattoos! Her career will be a decade or more long and although people hate to give her props she is madly successful!
I don't think Lady Gaga will last long enough to become an icon because she's based off gimmicks.
