If Hit The Lights goes platinum and ends up a radio hit (which, if managed correctly, there is no doubt) that would be a fabulous end to an era. A break for the recording of movies and recording the next album, leave everyone awaiting the album of all time and pick up from WTSGDs success

I agree. But if they're planning on following tradition of two singles before a Selena release then it makes sense. Hit the Lights won't blow up on radio till March/April & probably wouldn't peak till late May.

If they decide to release her next album in the fall like in November, then she'd be due for another single in early August. So there's enough time for the single to die in June, no Selena in July and a release in the first week of August.

Regarding Miley though, she's had a huge advantage in her film career that Selena hasn't. Her first movie was obviously Hannah Montana and was based on her hugely popular character. And her second movie was a Nicholas Sparks role and those have proven to do well. I'm not saying she couldn't have pulled huge numbers on her own, but she had great backing.

Selena didn't/doesn't have that.

selena's 2 movies have both gotten better reviews than miley's movies. the last song was trashed by critics, esp miley's performance

Whiplash, Middle Of Nowhere or We Own The Night to end the era. Would've been perfect.

A November release would be both good and bad for her.

Good because it'd be right around the holidays and Black Friday so the album would be selling like CRAZY.

But that time of year is usually FULL of album releases and it would be tough for her to get that top spot, since we all know she never has huge first week numbers.

And I know a #1 album for Selena is stretching it but it may be her last whether forever or a while so I want it to go at least top 2 and out-peak K&T, AYWR & WTSGD.

I would say Middle Of Nowhere has the best chance as a follow up. Radio seems to enjoy Selena's upbeat songs

November 13, 2012 would be a great date for her tbh. Her sales would be amplified because of the holiday season and it'd be the week before Black Friday so her decline would be small as hell. Or even in late October.

Back to WTSGD, the only viable choices would be Bang Bang Bang & We Own the Night. Middle of Nowhere is too loud. My Dilemma too irritating. That's More Like It too polarizing and other songs are a little more forgettable.
