I don't think 4 was a flop, isn't it certified platinum with sales over 900k? It's also in the top 10 best-selling albums of 2011.

It doesn't fit onto what people listen to now a days. It's to much like her last album. For her to take long to do it, it had to be awesome but its not

She has loyal fans. She's not selling singles at all. How long has it been since she released '4'? And how many videos/singles have she released from it?

yeah i guess album wise it was good...even got critical acclaims and sold pretty good!!!

but single wise it was such a flop!!!! atleast we got vids for so many of her songs...

Her sales are disappointing but she proved she can sell without hits. Eventually everyone's hits will dry up and they'll have to prove they too can do it.

Let's not forget country has been dominating the charts. Pop is what we listen now a days. And is true.

look like this year isn't a good year for the trinity

"4" isn't a complete flop album considering it doesn't have even one top 10 (but this isn't an excuse )
In contrast, "Femme Fatale" is underperforming in album sales, despite having 3 top 10s .. (good enough for a comeback though)
"Born This Way" sales isn't that great either after taking away the first week sales ..

i think top 10s / major hits are not automatically translated into album sales.
