Chinese isn't my first language, and I'm still learning, but does that mean I completely ignore its grammar? Absolutely not. This is not a competition, though. If you don't care about grammar and spelling, all power to you. But you don't need to waste your time in here trying to justify it.

1. You could've easily addressed me.
2. This post makes you seem like a hypocrite.
3. You've contradicted yourself twice.
4. I'm not going to discuss this anymore because it's obvious you don't get my point therefore I'm not even going to bother.
Have a nice day.

I can see why you gave up. Even the mention of the words "grammar" and "spelling" cause outcry. If there's at least one person who benefitted from this thread (and there has been at least one), I guess we had a minor victory.

Let's see you try speak my two native tongues. As long as the thought is there and the message is properly conveyed then let it be, ignore the grammar.

I know that my grammar isn't great either but I must say that I get irritated when people use:
''then'' instead of ''than''
Using ''in'' when it has to be ''on''
And I know when English isn't your first language you can't help it but English isn't my first language either, yet I try to get it right.

If I was only referring to you, I'd have addressed you directly.

English is the easiest language to learn, imo. I mean everyone listens to English songs, watches English movies and tv shows, ect.

Okay, why are people so mad about this?
Who cares if English is your 2nd, 3rd, 6th, or 18th language. No one should be mad at the chance to improve your usage of any language, I mean really. It's not like you're getting attacked. It's just some tips.
Like, for example, I speak a little French. If I post something in French that has wrong grammar or usage, I want someone to correct me. The only way I'll improve is if I am corrected.
I don't get the reaction to this thread.

Julian, if they're not American, don't shove grammar down their throat. It's not their fault they never learned it.
The only time I get bothered is when an American, that has learned it all their life, ignores it.

At least you're acknowledging it and not making excuses about it. Grammar doesn't need to be perfect, but the silly mistakes people (including native speakers) make all the time aren't very hard to correct. Just like your example of "then" vs "than."

I happen to not know how to distinguish then from than and in and on, **** happens and I guess the likes of you just need to learn how to deal with it

!!!!! See nobody expects everyone to speak/write English like it's their first language but at least try to prevent making those small mistakes like I already said.

I need this.
Do you know the rules?

Back on topic.
It's not easy to learn a new language, it takes years and years to perfect it. + isn't English like the second or third hardest language to learn?

I'm not shoving anything down anyone's throats. Anyone who read the very first post will see the purpose of this thread, but instead I'm being treated like an actual grammar nazi (that gif wasn't supposed to be taken seriously).
If I wanted to push it down everyone's throats I'd be correcting every single mistake I saw on this site. I've only corrected one or two people in my entire time on ATRL. We all make mistakes, including myself, but if anyone was interested in making fewer mistakes that's what this thread was for. Instead, it turned into an immature game of "who gives a ****?"

I really dislike the Nazi logo, it's highly offensive.
I do think this thread is useful, I don't speak English that well and this site has helped me improve it but than again as someone said.
"Perhaps it’s because most ATRL members aren’t native English speakers."

But instead of being so defensive, why not try and learn the difference? It's not like it's hard. It just takes a couple of minutes.
