This **** better blow me the **** away.
It better premiere on CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX, and the C-mother****ing-W at 9PM on a Wednesday night.
It better SNATCH those ratings, GET that promo, and SEAL this song's chances at being #1.
If Gaga vevoes this ****, it'll end up like Runaway.
This needs a theatrical run

What's wrong with Runaway? It was a masterpiece.

First off, "Only solely" is redundant
Second, I'm judging it because now that I've found out how long the video's prelude will be, I can deduce the probability of it being well made
The issue lies in the length because it's extremely tough to make a long music video good. Telephone is an excellent example of a long music video, but that has more to do with the on-screen chemistry between Gaga & Beyonce, and the high paced bright visuals provided by Akerlund.
Music videos have poor production values most of the time, because they have to be cheap. Therefore, the longer a music video, the more its budget has to be stretched to allow everything to be shown. Also, the longer a music video, the more original content you have to fill it with. Trust me, I've made short films, and it's tough to produce anything good above 5 minutes. You simply run out of things to do.
So, yeah I'm judging Marry The Night before its release. You know why? Because I'm goddamn qualified to do so.

Oh it was. I love it, one of the best short films I've ever seen.
However, Runaway had 7-8 songs in it.
This has one.
Also, Runaway didn't do well on the charts after the video premiered

"Marry the Night" could have more than 1 song in it (highly unlikely but you never know ) Yeah, but Kanye and 90% of his fans could careless about the charts.

Doesn't matter. We do care about the charts
Unless single sales and radio play really take off (both of which are unlikely at this point), the video is all MTN has left to get a top 10 peak
If no one wants to sit down to watch the damn video, then no one is gonna buy the song.

What about promo?
True, but I think she will make it work somehow.

This is only true if your budget is low, and even then its not entirely too difficult to do. You can make good short films longer then 5 minutes, it's exactly like producing a feautre-length film.
And we don't even know much about this video other then its her longest video to date.... but your entitled to pre-judge all you want.

Where is Gaga promoting again?
If I'm not mistaken, she has 3 promo gigs in the US until the end of the year

I thought she was at the Grammy Nominations concert? That seems like a good chance if she would release the video by next week sometime.

No, it really isn't.
Filming is much more intensive than you think, even with a professional crew. I had to produce a shot for shot remake of a scene from Scott Pilgrim once, and the filming took 2 days. Then the editing took an entire day as well (then again, the scene had fairly complex shots). Gaga will eventually run out of things to show in one video that fit the themes of Marry The Night
Not only that, but how is Gaga gonna keep me interested for that long? I really don't think I'll have the time to just sit down and watch Marry The Night: The 2Hr Director's Cut all the time.
Sorry, but if MTN really blows me away, and it's actually good, then I'll change my name on here to something of your choosing for 90 days.
That's how confident I am that this will disappoint me

I know all about filmmaking. (Then again, I'm more into feature-length as opposed to short films, but they aren't much different aside from less-money and a shorter length.)
And there will probably be a shorter version anyways. They had edited down Telephone and Paparazzi videos on Much Music, so I'm sure they'll have a song-length version (or approx) to play on music video stations.

Has it ever occured to you...
She may release the prelude as a short film
THEN the actual video
But not as a whole video. I'm sure the actual video is 10 mins. The prelude could be just a short film as a backstory?

I understand where you're coming from, but just watch it first. There are many great short films above 5 minutes. I don't mean to be catty, but just because you haven't made a good one does not mean Gaga and her team can't. That's not saying they will, but I think more than anything this song is the most personal on the album and also her favorite and this video will be focused around telling about her history and whatever secrets she hasn't yet told us. I expect an emotional and intimate video, not necessarily a pop music video that's meant to help it on the charts, if that makes any sense.
