My Stronger Album Review
Kelly is known for her Big Vocal, high energy break up songs, and firery attitude. And though she brings that to her 5th album Stronger, she also brings a matureaty to this album that she never really has brought before. She doesnt have to show off her vocals, or prove herself with this album. She just wanted to put out a message in her OWN way.
01. Mr. Know It All [4.5/5]
I was a little underwhelmed at first listen, but the song has TOTALLY grown on me. Kelly has grown more famous off of her pop/rock style, but she fits PERFECTLY in this rythmic/pop type songs. She has a nice raspy voice, but its very smooth. I LOVE the piano in the begining of the song.
02. What Doesn't Kill You (Stronger) [4.0/5]
LOVED this track at first, and REALLY wanted it to be the first single, HOWEVER i'm happy it wasn't. After hearing the whole album, MKIA introduces the album a whole lot better than WDKY. I do get tired of this song more quickly than MKIA. The strength of this song is the chorus. Very remincint of Since U Been Gone, but more current.
03. Dark Side [5.0/5]
The demo was perfection, and then we got the final version and got EVEN BETTER!!!. I love the way her voice sounds on this track. It sounds so sublte, but gets more powerful throughout the track. I also love the hauntingness of the track. Lyrically it TOTALLY fits Kelly and a LOT of people ould relate. And the INTRO and OUTRO just MADE the track even better.
04. Honestly [5.0/5]
It vocals on this track are AMAZING. She sounds so raw on this track, and you can really feel her presence on this track. Doesnt sound like any song Kelly has EVER done before. My ONLY problem is that it seems WAY short. But that just means I can re listen to it faster
05. You Love Me [5.0/5]
I remember thinking that this was gonna be a ballad. The way Kelly talked about it just screamed ballad. Then we heard the snippet, WHICH DIDNT DO THE SONG JUSTICE. I get her Tina Turner inspiration from this track. Has an 80's rock/pop vibe. Lyrically, this TOTALLY screams Kelly. I pray that this becomes a single.
06. Einstein [3.5/5]
The song grew on me. Sonically, its nothing new for Kelly. I think the lyrics are very cleverly put together (especially the 1st verse) HOWEVER, as many said before me, I just cant get past the D+D=Y part. If this was on Breakaway or All I Ever Wanted, I might like it more, but she seems more grown up on this album, so it seems out of place.
07. Standing In Front Of You [3.5/5]
Sonically, this track is BEAUTFUL. I LOVE the instrumental. For a ballad from Kelly, her voice is really subtle, but I love it. Someone posted that they feel the song doesnt go anywhere, and I do agree with that. But its still a great album track.
08. I Forgive You [4.0/5]
I've had a Love/Hate relationship with the track. LOVED it when it 1st leaked. THen when the whole album leaked, HATED it. And now i'm back to loving it. After the album leaked, i thought this track would fit way better on AIEW. I still think that sonically it fits on AIEW, but the lyrics go well with the theme of this album. The chorus REALLY pulls me into this song.
09. Hello [3.5/5]
Judging by the intrumental, you would TOTALLY think this was a happy/feel good song. But once you really listen to the lyrics, its really kinda sad

I get the Sheryl Crow vibe from this track. While I do like other songs more than this track, I cannot imagine this track NOT on the album, cuz it fits so perfect.
10. The War Is Over [3.5/5]
I was expecting a big old Power Ballad from this track. But it wasnt as powerful as I thought it would be. It's still a great track, and she sound WONDERFUL on the track. The verses are lackluster for me, BUT THE CHORUS and BRIDGE bring it back in. And i can REALLY relate to this track right now.
11. Let Me Down [5.0/5]
BTHE part II

Loved it when it leaked, and I STILL love it. Classic Kelly, but has a twist to it. The chorus is so addicting. I can see this smashing the charts in the summer. The bridge is my favorite part of the song
12. You Can't Win [3.0/5]
Probably the weakest track on the album

Sonically it doesn't really do anything for me, which makes me sad cuz I LOVE the lyrics. The chorus is ok, but the verses are

Not only fit with Kelly, but ANYONE can relate. I really wanna love this track, but as of now im forcing myself to listen to it.
13. Breaking Your Own Heart [5.0/5]
I almost cried when I 1st heard the demo. I'm not much of a fan of country, but this has a country vibe to it that I LOVE. Her voice is so emotional on this track. I get chills when she sings the 1st verse. And the added guitar on the bridge

Love the adlibs on the final chorus. Very subtle, but very powerful at the same time.
15. Alone [4.0/5]
In the same vein with You Love Me, this has an 80's vibe to it. And while I really like this track, i'm glad its a bonus track. Its TOO similar sonically to You Love Me. LOVE her attitude on this track.
16. Dont Be a Girl About It [3.5/5]
I really liked the demo, and this is a great improvement. It's funny, cuz she comes off like such a guy on this track. I can see why it didnt make the album though. As I said before, this album really feels more grown up, and this kinda feels not so mature. I could see this making AIEW though.
17. The Sun Will Rise [4.0/5]
Wasnt looking forward to this track MAINLY cuz of Kara. But they sound great together. Again, another song with hints of country in it, but I love it. I think if she had collaborated with someone bigger, it could have made the album.
18. Why Dont You Try [3.0/5]
LOVED the live version, but the album version was a let down. But she TOTALLY fits this genre of music as well. What really saves the song is the FANTASTIC chorus. Her subtle long notes when she sings Try give me goosebumps.
This has become my favorite Kelly Album mainly because of her growth. She comes off more adult and experienced. Also, I love the restraint in her voice in this album. Kelly's KNOWN for her voice. She can belt it out like no other, BUT she shows the emotion her voice WAY more in this album, and proves that you dont have to BELT out every lyric to make you feel the song.
Kelly said recently that she hasnt been in love, which is very sad, BUT what I love is that she doesnt pretend she has with her songs. She may sing about break ups and bashing guys, but I'd rather that, then her singing about love when she really hasnt felt it.
But when that Love album comes

watch out world, I dont think we will be ready
What I also love is that she seems REALLY into this era. IMO, it always felt like she wasnt totally into the AIEW era. But she really seems to love this album.
Coming out of a 4 years relationship, this album REALLY speaks to me. I cant relate to almost every song.
Great job Kelly

I cant wait to see where you take us this era
