Prematch entertainment organisers are also believed to have received negative feedback from previously staging older acts who hadn't had a recent hit.

"Kelly Clarkson is a great fit for the league given the broad support she has," NRL spokesman Paul Kind said. "She appeals to 8 to 80-year-olds and a lot of women."
