Yeah, lets get into that. Loud's sound is much different to RR, and yet Rihanna did it in a way that wasn't generic. The only tracks on Loud that are generic are S&M and Fading. The rest are completely different to stuff you would hear on the radio.
Katy may not have changed her sound "that much" in your eyes, but Katy is just a pop singer now. In OOTB era she was a pop-rock chick. She completely lost that rock edge to her. Now she just has the generic pop sound that you hear on the radio (ET is an exception to this, but it isn't like we hadn't heard that particular sound before). Did she really write OOTB during her whole life? I thought she had 2 unfinished albums she tried recording but didn't.

But didn't Rihanna "regress" with LOUD too? That's the point, she wrote songs (afaik) and was actually significantly involved with her album.
