She didn't ever reduce the price, the remix was done because fans wanted it and they wanted Britney on it, and the remix was actually performed by both and Britney did it on tour as well.

If anything, it's "Last Friday Night."

well i doubt that Rihanna's fans wanted to have Britney on a remix for the artistic quality that britney could contribute to the song.. they clearly wanted a big name to get a #1... that's all and pretty lame. so if Mariah's next single doesn't go to #1 she should really consider to get Gaga or Beyoncé or both on a remix for the artistic value...+ reducing the download price to less than a dollar.. et voila the #1 spot should be secured.

it is true tho ...Mariah Janet and even Madonna had a part in writing their hits .Janet Jackson's song " Blackcat" only has her name on the writing credits. Rihanna hasn't really wrote anything,not to say that she's incapable of doing so but ......she hasn't yet.

Today, you can debut in the top 10 with 150k downloads and zero radio play, and then free fall off the charts the next week. That's why Taylor Swift has the most Hot 100 entries from one album. Whereas in the 80s and 90s, you couldn't debut on the Hot 100 without a physical CD.There's also the fact that a lot of Rihanna's hits include featured artists, and she's featured on a lot of tracks. There's no "legitimacy". Back then there were tricks to get particular successes as there are today. You can't dismiss changing times and growing technology.

The only trick was lowering single sales and suppressing CD sales until airplay peaked for a high debut. Nowadays, it's much easier to get a top 10 added to your roster.
