It's not about writing credits, because Whitney didn't write any of her hits. But more about the changing market. Today, you can debut in the top 10 with 150k downloads and zero radio play, and then free fall off the charts the next week. That's why Taylor Swift has the most Hot 100 entries from one album. Whereas in the 80s and 90s, you couldn't debut on the Hot 100 without a physical CD.There's also the fact that a lot of Rihanna's hits include featured artists, and she's featured on a lot of tracks. Plus she used tricks to reach the top 10, or #1. Whereas the other ladies all got their top 10 legitimately.
