Considering MKIA sold 107K the first week with only a few radio interviews, a banner on itunes, and a spread in EW is pretty good. I think people always forget the machine that has become reality shows!! Kelly was the first person America voted to get a record deal. She has an invite to every competition show on any network whenever she wants. XFactor, Idol, The Voice, Singing Bee, Karaoke Party (or whatever it's called), America's Got Talent, Dancing With The Stars, So You Think You Can Dance...
A few of those shows are starting next week. People like nostalgia. Considering Kelly's been in the business for almost a decade now... people feel like oh damn I'm old, lol and wow this girl did it and we played a role in getting her there! If they continue to use the it's been a decade thing ESPECIALLY when she goes on the singing competition shows, that's amazing promo for her!
I'm not too worried about the debut #'s; I'm more concerned that she sells steady. The CMA Awards are two weeks after her album comes out. After lurking several blogs (even Carrie's fans) are saying Kelly will win a CMA Award. That's good promo (if it were to happen). A pop singer winning a country award. *side note: I read on a Carrie site the fans were already preparing themselves for the headlines like "Kelly beats Carrie on her own turf" since they feel Carrie won't win a CMA but Kelly most likely will... **** if that happens, that's crazy promo. You know the media loves putting girls against each other for some reason. It's stupid but they do it anyway.
I hope she performers some new material (besides the single) off the album before it comes out. Or maybe her label can release a track every other week before the record comes out on itunes the way some other artists have done recently. It all depends on promo and marketing.

Country is probably the biggest "you scratch my back, i'll scratch your back" of any awards. After reading a lot of blogs people were saying that's how Blake got an Entertainer of the Year Award and how his 6-song EP was nominated for Album of the Year over other people. I'm just saying Blake and Kelly have the same management, Jason is the golden boy this year.... they have that going for them plus, all of DYWS's accomplishments. I'd say it's theirs to lose. But you never know... it could be an upset and of course nothing is certain. But if you were a beating person and wanted odds... odds are more in their favor for Event of the Year.

Actually in one of the forums I read most of her fans were happy for Kelly/Jason and were hoping DYWS wins. They just didn't like the potential headlines if KC were to win and Carrie doesn't.

HAHA probably. Well at least they weren't nominated against each other. It might happen next year though at the Academy of Country Music Awards (they usually air in April). If "Remind Me" and DYWS are up against each other for some awards. That might get a little ugly with certain stans from both sides. That's one thing I'd stay far, far, far away from, lol.
If Kelly does less than 200k, I'll be dissapointed. She's releasing same day as Drake & Coldplay so there is going to be a massive amount of CD buyers in that week that RCA can take advantage of.

You guys, I'm in a really bad mood, being grounded & all. I feel asleep at 8:30 last night on a ****ing Friday night. I woke up with a terrible sore throat and a massive headache, it's raining outside and I've got a project to work on.
I know I said I wouldn't, but can someone pleaaaassee send me You Cant Win? It would make me the happiest guy in the world. People were saying it sounds like a Dr.Luke track and it should of been the first single and I just really wanna hear it.
