Other than her three biggest singles (and one of them a sleeper hit), her songs really don't display much longevity at all. She's doing a lot better on airplay this era though; three of her songs from Born This Way (the title track, TEOG, and YAI) have established her as a HAC favorite, which is a huge key in longevity (see Bruno Mars, Katy Perry, Adele)

I couldn't agree more. She's really not that stellar in the radio charts. Although this era showed that she can penetrate other formats, too bad her download sales are not matching this new found wave in the radio...

Well, it doesn't help that she has been "shoved down people's throats" for the past three years straight with no break. I think it's always best to take at least a year off to let people miss you. But the singles aren't as strong as last eras either. They lack that fun yet artistic feeling.

But this is what I feel about her singles this era... Oh, well. At least it's not a complete failure ala Bionic singles... At least it's still selling (but not that much). And I do agree with going on a break, and by break, laying low for a couple of months. Not the "Won't release a single so you won't hear anything new from me, but I'll still be on tour" kind of break.

Y&I is the most promoted song from BTW, it's been known and promoted for like a year now starting on the Today Show in 2010! It was promoted heavily along with BTW on the album's release, as well as being promoted yet again with TEOG when it was announced as the fourth single not to mention a hugely hyped VMA performance, yet it hasn't exploded in sales and is now peaking in airplay! The song is underperforming for the amount of promotion it has recieved! The US public and radio's just aren't here for it, especially when songs that havn't been promoted at all are doing better than it!

It got it's top 10 peak, that's all I expected from it! I'm ready for Marry The Night to be next smash the album needs!

I am not Gaga stan so I don't know this for sure, but I think Y&I was picked as a single because it sold the most copies after BTW album release. But it sold those copies just because it was promoted for the long time - even before BTW(-the song). Her team thought it sold so many copies because of the song itself so they picked it as a single.

Or the second variant: Y&I is doing "Blah Blah Blah"
