Moving on from the topic of whether or not Beyonce deserved to be nominated for pervious albums...

Is anyone else disappointed that Adele released SLY before the cutoff date? I honestly believe it was possible for RITD and SLY to take Pop/SOTY/ROTY in two separate years... Unfortunately now one of them may go completely unrecognised, but they both deserve to win something...

Not really. If Adele wins Pop Vocal Album and/or Album of the Year, SLY would only be eligible to compete in ROTY next year.

No. If an album wins an album category, all tracks released from that album will be ineligible to compete in any category the following year except for ROTY and Short Form Music Video. It's the same reason "Irreplaceable" was nominated in ROTY after Beyonce's album won a Grammy but wasn't nominated for anything else (except for a track from the RE-RELEASE). Same with "Boulevard of Broken Dreams," which won ROTY a year after Green Day won Rock Album. It was their sole nomination.

Oh wow. I always wondered why Irreplaceable and BOBD were only nominated in ROTY and not their respective genres. Thanks for that info. This rule seems a bit bizarre as to ONLY apply to albums that win in their respective categories. Can anyone explain the reasoning behind barring album winners but not album nominees?

Also, I agree with the whole Halo (Live) thing. If I ever saw a live performance that deserved to win ROTY or Pop Solo, it would be Adele singing SLY.
