Close to 1.3 million. That's pretty good considering he opened up with around 55k first week.

Katy is newer, more driven, has greater label support than Britney. You can't compare them. This is her prime. In her prime, even though it was a different period, Britney destroyed Katy.
|
Her biggest mistake was trying out many different things, but with "someone" in mind as inspiration. Dead I just noticed she's nowhere near other Vocal Trinity in album sales. Could personality become a factoring element?
But someone like Britney with the most devoted stanbase that has been growing up with her through her ups and chronicles of pre-Blackout, you would expect something at least a bit higher than this especially since her main demographic is supported with more buying power as they age. Well, I guess the trend is to buy albums of singer now.

Hopefully she saw a +0%.

This. She didnt even promote any single and the tribute was hardly anything to really boost album sales. Noone besides cahleb's delusional ass was expecting it to see a big increase.

Instead, she's working with people who spawn singles artists. So the results are expected. But I won't get into it any further; this is not the place.
Edit: actually, it is the place. This is the thread where album sales are discussed.

I agree, but keep in my mind that femme fatale isn't even the album that britney really wanted to create.

As for IANAHB, it was meant to be an EP just to tide fans over until CIV. However, it turned into an official album since it didn't fit EP criteria with the length. But still, the album wasn't meant to be anything important to his career. Hardly any promotion & not a single video shot.
|
IANAHB definitely had 3 music videos - "I'm Single", the title track, and the song with Gudda Gudda. Other than that, promotion for the album was minimal.
Rebirth is what they were really trying with but it wasn't something people wanted to hear... especially Wayne's core fanbase. Not to mention the set has an average review rating of 3.7/10. Turrable.

Why are you guys acting like Katy performed or something. She won awards but I'll expect that to do more for the single or music video sales

Perhaps, but did GaGa receive at least a decent boost when she swept the VMAs?

The Fame went up like 10% and The Fame Monster (EP) re-entered the top 50.

Yeah, but she won two televised awards, including the big one - VOTY. She should have gained something, not lose 15%.

Yeah, I got this from the archive.
18 18 LADY GAGA INTERSCOPE 16,945 +9%
FAME
Gaga definitely stole the show last year with her meat dress, announcing the title of her next album and previewing her next single. She certainly got more headlines than Katy who barely did anything.

I think because of the discount week her sales went up last week. So if she didn't have the discount last week she would of gained this week. Understand what I'm trying to say?

Yeah, that probably explains it. She should see an increase next week since it's being discounted again on iTunes.
