I love both of them quite a lot; I think the reason I loved PATF so much is because of the return to hand-drawn animation; I also prefer PATF's music.

BATB STILL makes me cry like a little baby at the end... and I've probably seen it over 60 times in my lifetime.

Well, yeah. At least here, there's only a bunch of people who could point out Princess Ariel against the movie itself. I think her character is much more dependent to the film than those of Cindy and Snowy who have successfully ventured out of their respective story ties.

The Lion King, The Little Mermaid, and Aladdin are my top three hand drawn Disney films. If I could see all three on the big screen...

Eh. Well domestically, Ariel & Belle are a lot more popular.

For instance, Disney World's Magic Kingdom is also getting a Fantasyland expansion. Originally, it contained 7 different areas: Belle's village/Beast's castle, Ariel's area, Cinderella's chateau, Aurora & Snow White's cottages, Pixie Hollow, and a Dumbo area.

The current plans now only have Belle's areas, Ariel's area, and the Dumbo area.

In fact, Snow White doesn't even do Meet & Greets at the MK - you have to meet her at Epcot.

Actually IDK if that's true anymore but if any other animated films got nominated, they were pixar digital movies.

Snow White is overrated IMO - I hated the movie as a child. The hag creeped me out so I didn't watch it. But I watched it recently & it does nothing for me. I don't find Snow to be a notable character at all. The queen steels her thunder.

Aurora is not notable either - Maleficent stole her thunder too. I didn't even Aurora's name was Aurora until a few years ago. I used to like the movie though. The fairies were great too.

Beauty & the Beast is the best Disney animated movie HANDS DOWN. Like Nicole said, it's a masterpiece. TLK is a close second.

"Up" and "Toy Story 3" were also nominated, but that was when the number of Best Picture nominees was increased.

BATB's nomination was just absolutely unheard at the time; it's the reason why the Best Animated Feature category was introduced.

I have heard it's amazing, but I haven't seen it.

I'd daresay the intro to Hunchback is the best marriage of visuals and music Disney ever produced outside of Fantasia.
